The World Is Full of Thieves

I am a "Everything in it's place and everything has a place" kind of person (in only a mildly obsessive way). Because of this attitude it is incredibly disturbing to me when I can't find something.

This usually prompts a "Who stole my_________?" response.

At which point whoever is in my vicinity gives me a blank stare and a smirk.

I'm not sure where this attitude comes from because, to be honest, I don't think anyone has ever actually stolen something from me. I grew up with two brothers, so, no sister "stealing" my clothes, makeup, hair ties or boyfriends. In college, for two years running, my roommates left school to move back home, so no-one "stealing" anything there.

I will often blame the people in my classroom of stealing things as well. Just today in fact.

"Who stole my coffee? Give it back!" I accused the room with a hairy eyeball.

All the students in my room looked up at me and pointed simultaneously at the counter by the SMARTBoard without a word. There was my huge, lavender Hydroflask mug.

"Oh, thanks."
